i'm BACK! continuing from my last entry...
Wow, it's been almost 2 months since i last blogged. i'm the master procraster (in the words of jimmy). anyways, picking up on my last entry... the World Vision epiphany.
I was at home alone one night and being bored as usual, i turned on the tele. For some reason i was watching one of those sponsor-a-child advertisements by World Vision, and i didn't reflexively reach for the remote and switch it. We so often just overlook those ads (and maybe rightfully so when they play them all the time, making it more of a commercial enterprise masked in the visage of righteous intentions [there are many reports that the money doesn't really help or go to the kids]), but this time I actually watched... and watched... and something struck me. I claim to obey God and be generally, a good person. But what do I do to show it? Sure I do the little things but how does it do any good for people who are REALLY in need?
Unfortunately, all i've done is put "World Vision" on one of my 3M notes as a reminder... a 2 month old reminder. I need to get into action. And although there are those who believe that aid organizations just delve countries' economies into further despair (something about them not getting up on their own two feet for themselves), it's bound to make all the difference to at least one child.
